Florence, AZ – Arthur “Snake” Neal, the incumbent in the 2024 Town Council race, has withdrawn his candidacy citing competing personal and professional priorities and a desire to spend more time with his family. The announcement became official on April 17 when the Town Clerk’s Office received Neal’s formal withdrawal notice. Neal, who has served as a council member since 2020, will continue his term until December 2024, when the newly elected Town Council will take office.

Currently, three individuals are vying for the three available seats on the Town Council. The candidates include Sherrie L. Bedford, James “Tony” Bencina, and Tracy Flora, RN.

The deadline for write-in candidates is set for June 20, 2024.

In related news, pursuant to Arizona state statute, the Florence Town Council has initiated the process of filling the Council’s vacant seat.
